In accordance with the existing acts and regulations, the main functions of BAN-PT is basically to assist and support the Minister of National Education in assessing the quality of Higher Education, including public and private universities, institutes, colleges, academies, polytechnics, religion-based, and government service higher education institutions. BAN-PT is a non-structural, non-profit, and independent agency under the National Education Minister.

Universitas Nurtanio or IPTN University is one of the main private universities in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. IPTN one of the main Indonesian aviation pioneer, who pioneered the manufacture of gliders with NWG-1 prototype (IPTN Wiweko Glider). IPTN who graduated FEATI (Far East Technical Institute Aero), Manila, in 1954 succeeded in flying a plane that is the result of engineering, followed by The Beetles and other prototype Grasshopper. In 1960 the Air Force, founded LAPIP (Institute for Aviation Industry Foundation) with IPTN as a director, in cooperation with Polish Cekop, manufactured aircraft PZL-104 Wilga assemblies better known as the Sparrow, a plane carrying four people. On March 21, 1966, Commodore IPTN Pringgoadisuryo died in a plane crash in Bandung.

To commemorate his services, the Air Force leadership at the University IPTN immortalize his name. On March 14, 2008 Unnur has been certified AMTO (Aircraft Maintenance Training Organization) from DSKU (Directorate of Airworthiness and certification) of the Ministry of Transportation of Indonesia, as an educational institution entitled to provide Basic General License to its graduates. Basic License with them will be hired by Airliners, especially aircraft maintenance in accordance with the department. Unnur mampunyai two campuses, Campus I on Jl. Pajajaran Base 219 Bandung Husein Sastranegara, 40 174 and Campus II on Jl Casa 2 Lanud Solomon Bandung, 40 154. On Campus I have the Faculty of Engineering (Aviation Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Industrial Engineering), Faculty of Economics (Management and Accounting) and the Faculty of Computer Science and Informatics, D3 and S1. In a special opening Campus II Faculty of Political and Social Science, D3, S1 and S2.

The National Accreditation Agency for Higher Education (Badan Akreditasi Nasional Perguruan Tinggi), well-known as BAN-PT is an independent agency for evaluation, which has main tasks to decide adequacy of program and or education unit at higher education level, referring to national standards of education. Higher education accreditation is the evaluation of adequacy of program and or institution of higher education, based on criteria, which have been decided to provide quality assurance to the community. To undertake higher education accreditation, the Government establishes National Accreditation Agency for Higher Education (Badan Akreditasi Nasional Perguruan Tinggi – BAN-PT). BAN-PT is a non-structural, non-profit, and independent agency under the National Education Minister.
