Universitas Galuh (Unigal) is the only university in the Tatar Galuh Ciamis, precisely on Jalan R. E. Inhale number 46 251 150 Ciamis, West Java. The university is under the auspices of Ciamis Galuh Education Foundation.
This college was established on Tuesday, April 8, 1998. Forerunner to the establishment of this university is mergernya several high schools in Ciamis at the time, namely the High School Teacher Training and Education Galuh Galuh Law College, High School Galuh Economics and Political Science College Galuh. At the beginning of its formation there were only 3 (three) faculties, namely: Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Faculty of Law, and Faculty of Economics. Along with its growth, there are additions to the Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Faculty of Engineering, and most recently the Faculty of Health. So that this university is now composed of seven faculty with twenty-study program.

Galuh University now also offers graduate programs (S2), the course Master in Management and Masters in Management Education. Teachers program is to teachers from several universities in West Java, including from ITB, Padjadjaran University, and UPI.
