BAN-PT is a non-structural, non-profit, and independent agency under the National Education Minister.

Universitas Bandung Raya (Unbar) was established through the creative process is long and winding road began with the unification (merger) 4 (four) Private Higher Education (PTS) which later developed into a standalone 4 (four) faculty at the University Bandung Raya namely Leadership Academy Company Bandung (APPB) - Freedom Education Foundation (YPM) to the Faculty of Economics, Academy of Self-Reliance Textiles (ATB) - Foundation Adult Education Expert Textiles (YAPPATEKS) became the Faculty of Engineering, the National Agricultural Academy (AKPERNAS) - Adult Agricultural Education Foundation (YP-3) a Faculty of Agriculture and College of Teacher Training and Education (STKIP) - National Education Foundation (YAPENAS) became Faculty of Teacher Training and Education. Pledge unification took place on May 18, 1984. Unbar organizer is the Foundation Board of Trustees Unbar (YPU) based on RI Education Minister Decree No. 0652/1985 dated December 30, 1985. YPU as organizers Unbar Agency confirmed by notarial deed BM Sri Sugiarto SH, No. 26 dated June 16, 1984. The process of developing the University of Bandung Raya grew up not separate from the strategic environment and the dynamics of the surrounding community. In general, the existence of a growing institution with reference to the basic ideas or approaches that vary as follows:

* 1 Socio Karikatif, namely that the existence of Unbar approach as an attempt to accommodate the aspirations of the community that is based on the assumption that people are helpless, more poverty, less educated and do not have the ability and independence. Therefore deserves attention and give preference in the dignity and pride grow in mutual cooperation and participatory
* 2 Socio Economical, namely that the existence Unbar approach can not be separated from efforts helped improve the condition of people who are still weak in terms of revenue, and require repair its economic needs.
* 3 Socio Reformer, which is incidental approach taken by accidental in the effort to restore the original state as the state becomes. For example the actions of devotion to public assistance.
* 4 Socio Transformative, namely the approach based on a belief that the development of community development is basically a change of views, thoughts, attitudes and behavior together toward self-reliance and independence on.

The National Accreditation Agency for Higher Education (Badan Akreditasi Nasional Perguruan Tinggi), well-known as BAN-PT is an independent agency for evaluation, which has main tasks to decide adequacy of program and or education unit at higher education level, referring to national standards of education. Higher education accreditation is the evaluation of adequacy of program and or institution of higher education, based on criteria, which have been decided to provide quality assurance to the community. To undertake higher education accreditation, the Government establishes National Accreditation Agency for Higher Education (Badan Akreditasi Nasional Perguruan Tinggi – BAN-PT). BAN-PT is a non-structural, non-profit, and independent agency under the National Education Minister.
