Universitas Nusa Bangsa was established in 1987 by the Foundation Skills Development and Quality of Life (YPKMK) Archipelago which is located in Jakarta. UnB officially stood by the Education Minister Decree No. RI. 0456/0/1989 on July 19, 1989 with 3 faculties and 5 departments namely: Faculty of Agriculture (FAPERTA) with the Agriculture Department of Agricultural Economics and Social Department, Faculty of Economics (FAEKON) with the Department of Accounting and Management Department of the Company, and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science (Science Faculty) with one of the department of biology majors. In the year 1990/1991 the Faculty of Agriculture to form the Forest Management Study Program based on the Education Minister Decree No. RI. 018/0/1991, dated July 19, 1991.
A further development of Forest Management Study Program was increased to Faculty of Forestry and the Department of Forest Management and Forest Resources Conservation Programs under the Education Minister Decree No. dated March 10, 1993. 19/D/0/1993. In the year 1998 formed the Graduate Masters UnB (MSI) Science in Economics and Development Studies, Resource Development concentration, which was approved by a decision of the Director General of Higher Education Department of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia dated December 18, 1998 Number 451/DIKTI/Kep / 1998.
To overcome the scarcity of forestry extension staff in these areas in the year 2006 UnB Forestry Extension education diploma (D2) based on Higher Operating Permit No. 4147/D/T/2005, dated December 29, 2005.
